No-exam life insurance
Which applicants qualify for rapid underwriting, how the process works, and your options if an exam is required.
Many underwriters now offer rapid underwriting: for applicants within certain limits, they decide based on your application, medical records history, driving records and other existing information instead of scheduling an exam. Decisions sometimes arrive within 24 hours. Each quote on this site shows whether that product requires an exam, may require one, or doesn't need one.
What it changes
Skipping a medical exam doesn't mean skipping the underwriting review. Your answers are verified, and a policy based on incomplete or inaccurate information can be challenged during the first two years. Some carriers may still order an exam or lab tests if their records raise concerns.
Who tends to qualify
Generally, applicants who are roughly under 60, applying for amounts within the carrier's limits, with no major health issues and at least a year without tobacco use. If you've had blood work from a recent doctor visit, some carriers will accept those lab results in place of a new exam.
If a medical exam is required, you can typically expect a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical professional at your residence or workplace in the Lathrop area, provided at no charge to you. For many healthy applicants, exam results can actually improve your rate classification, so an exam isn't necessarily a disadvantage.
